Emily Chappell Evening March 4th
Cranleigh Cycling Club invites you to join us for a very special evening on March 4th at Cranleigh Arts Centre with Emily Chappell.
Emily is an extraordinary ultra-distance athlete, an award-winning author, a Guardian contributing journalist and a leading advocate for women cyclists.
The former bike courier took on the Transcontinental race in 2015, a gruelling self-supporting, 4000km challenge across Europe. She made it only halfway, waking up on her back in a field, utterly floored by the physical and mental exertion.
A year later she entered again and won.
She continues to ride extraordinary routes and distances all over the world.
Emily has been critically acclaimed for her books on endurance cycling and her earlier life as a London bike courier
“Chappell is a gifted storyteller” – The Observer
“Beautifully written and thought-provoking journey through the peaks and valleys of ultra-racing, woven together by the realities of life, love and friendship” – road.cc
Our favourite quote – “I couldn’t see a menu, so I decided this café only serves cake.” – The Telegraph
The Evening will start at 7pm with a supper from Rania Restaurant followed by a presentation from Emily and finally a Q&A session ending approx. 10pm.
We are offering all club members a discounted rate of £20.00 including supper.
The discount is only for 1 week after which the evening will be open to anyone outside the club. There is a maximum capacity of 80 for this very special evening.
